Children For Adoption - Always Not Enough To Meet Demand
Children for adoption are never sufficiently available in numbers to meet the market demand from potential parents who wish to adopt a baby. It has always been this way for many years and the situation is likely to remain the same in the foreseeable future. Nowadays, there are many unwanted teenage pregnancies with too many of them ending in abortion. Also, quite a number of mothers abandoned their babies because they believe that they are not capable of providing the care that the child will need while growing up. Many of these mothers are disturbed psychologically. Even then, there are not enough babies to satisfy the demand.
In the ideal adoption world, the numbers of childless couples wanting children would exactly equal the number of children needing new homes, but this is not the way it works out in reality. If you are seeking to adopt a native American child, you will need to join an already long list of waiting couples. There is no guarantee that you won't succeed if you do, because there are any couples who will not be able to satisfy some of the strict conditions which need to be met before an adoption is possible.
The alternative to this, and one which has been followed in increasing numbers in recent years, is to adopt a child from overseas. This trend began to take off in the years following the end of communism in the old Soviet Union and its satellite countries. Although the children of the region had more hope than any generation for many years, there were orphans who were left without homes and in serious poverty. Many were adopted by Western families.
There has also been a widespread adoption of children from China, as the orphans in that country also place a huge burden upon the state. During the past ten years this has been one of the most prolific sources of children for adoption, with infants to six years old being the most common age range. This trend is now falling away, for reasons which are hotly disputed. There are those who are optimistic enough to believe it is because the Chinese are now better able to look after their own children, but there are other theories as well.
The supply of children for adoption is now at an extremely low point, but it is unlikely to be many years before the numbers climb again. Whenever there is a natural disaster, or a political change, there is sure to be children affected by something which they had no part in causing. In the interests of humanity, it will be necessary to help those children by offering homes in the West. There will be no shortage of homes waiting for them, as there are always couples waiting for children for adoption.
